  2. We work with South African, Indian, Russian, Thai, Colombian and most other foreign citizens and spouses of UK citizens. It takes 4 weeks to process a visa at the Embassy for Chinese, Filipino, Belorussian, Indonesian, Nigerian, Pakistani and some other nationals, please check with us.

  3. Cost: £105 plus Embassy fee £55. If you are married to a UK national - just £105.

Spanish Visa

"My sincere thanks for providing a most efficient visa service. This is particularly helpful at a busy summer time! At all times you offered sound advice and reassurance. Many thanks indeed!" Shaneen (S. African), Berkshire
  1. Passport with UK visa in, both valid for at least 3 months beyond your trip. If your 1st UK entry visa (work, student, spouse etc.) was in your old passport you need BOTH old and current passports. We need to see how you entered the UK at the first place. If your UK visa is in the old passport please provide both old and new passports (there is no need to transfer a stamp into a new passport).

  2. 2 identical passport-size colour photographs on WHITE background; different from photos on any old visas. Do NOT staple the photos and please NO DIGITAL or home-made puctures.

  3. 1 application form. Download here
Please answer the questions you can; sign in p.37 and sign again in the last box in the bottom right corner. Duration of visa and number of entries is decided by the embassy regardless of what's asked on the form and may be different from what you requested. For spouses of UK citizens: you need to sign the form twice as above plus your British spouse has to sign p.37 together with you.
  4. Travel Insurance (NOT needed for spouses of UK/EU citizens). Internet print-outs are OK as long as they have all the info as below. If insurance is provided with your bank account - please ask your bank for a NEW original letter confirming cover (letter DATED NO OLDER than 1 MONTH, on bank's headed paper). We would need both letter and a booklet with explanation of coverage (but just a booklet is not enough).
Insurance documents from any source must state ALL of the following: 1) WHO is insured; 2) WHEN insured; 3) WHERE - area of where policy is valid; 4) WHAT is covered stating Repatriation expenses.
  5. 3-MONTHS original POSTAL bank statements (If you are married to a British/EU citizen you only need 1 month POSTAL statement from you OR your spouse).

For all not married to UK/EU citizens: 3-months POSTAL bank statements with all pages including SALARY. Statements printed at a branch do not substitute proper postal statements! Last statement must be no older than 1 month; in credit; with £40 per day of stay but minimum balance £400 (per person).
    • If the last original statement is older than 1 month you still need 3 months postal statements plus a 'Temporary Statement' with up-to-date balance with the same account STAMPED BY YOUR BANK on each page. This can be done instantly at your bank or from internet banking but still STAMPED BY YOUR BANK.
    • Send BOTH old 'postal' 3 MONTHS statements AND a 'Temporary Statement'!!!
    • If you receive only on-line statements: ask your bank for new 3 months postal statements, WAIT for them, then apply for a visa. Please do NOT send on-line/branch statements on their own.
    • If your recent statement is overdrawn you can add a savings account statement (original postal, no older than 1 month, as above). Please still provide a statement with salary. Or you can wait until your salary is paid to improve the balance.

  6. For employed: Letter from Employer (NOT needed for spouses of UK/EU citizens). Letter must be: addressed to the Spanish Consulate; dated no older than 1 month, on ORIGINAL headed paper; must confirm your employment and job title. Company name must be same as on your bank statement where your salary is paid in.

  7. If you are not working and supported by a spouse: original spouse's passport and original marriage certificate, spouse's employment letter (as p.6), spouse's bank statements (as p.5). Spanish Embassy does not accept financial support from unmarried partners and other family members or friends. Support from parents is only accepted for children under 18y.o.

  8. For students: Letter from College/University plus ATTENDANCE record. ATTENDANCE record is COMPULSORY no matter what 'your school says'. Letter must be: addressed to the Spanish Consulate; dated no older than 1 month; on headed paper; stating your course, dates of graduation. ATTENDANCE can be %; 'satisfactory'.

  9. For self-employed: Letter (no older than 1 month on headed paper) from your solicitor or accountant confirming 1) you are self-employed, 2) business name and company number;3) nature of business, 4) addressed to Spanish Consulate.

  10. For spouses of UK/EU citizens: spouse's original UK/Irish/Spanish passport and original marriage certificate. If not in English/Spanish - must be translated. Important! All marriage certificates originated from outside the European Union must be "legalised", even if they are written in English, such as S.African, Indian etc. The only exception when foreign marriage certificates are accepted without legalisation - when spouse's name is PRINTED on your VALID UK visa (but certificate still has to be translated into English, if applicable). If spouse's name is hand-written on the visa or if spouse's name is on an expired UK visa (such as when you get an Indefinite visa), this exception does NOT apply and a certificate has to be legalised.

Legalisation is an 'Apostille' stamp according to the Hague Convention 1961, not any other stamp. For holders of S.African and Indian marriage certificates: If British spouse's name is printed on your valid UK visa that would be OK without legalisation. If spouse's name is not printed or if it's printed on an expired UK visa, then a marriage certificate has to be legalised as above.

If your certificate is not 'legalised' as above and your spouse's name is not printed on a valid UK visa then Spanish Embassy (not us) will not recognise your marriage. They will charge £55 Embassy fee and ask for "all documents": tickets, bank statements, work letter etc.

  11. Confirmed tickets (NOT required for spouses of UK/EU citizens). Internet print-outs are OK.

  12. Proof of accomodation (NOT required for spouses of UK/EU citizens).
    • If staying at a hotel: hotel booking with your name on it. Internet print-outs are OK.
    • If staying with friends/family who live in Spain: ORIGINAL invitation from Spanish police plus photocopy of the host's passport/ID.
    • If renting from friends who live in the UK: a) SIGNED original letter from the host (please no emails); b) ORIGINAL host's passport; c) ORIGINAL proof of Spanish N.I.E number; d) utility bill with that address in Spain.
    • If staying at a holiday home owned by you or your spouse: ORIGINAL proof of Spanish National Insurance number (NIE number). If applicable: spouse's original passport and original marriage certificate.
  13. If travelling for business/conference: Business Invitation stating your name, company name, purpose of the trip, dates and contacts of the inviting organisation- fax is acceptable. Please no emails.

  15. Pre-paid Special Delivery envelope (to return your documents) from any Post Office or add £6.
