French Embassy issues biometric visas from 6th February 2012. This means every applicant needs to come in person on the date of appointments at the visa centre - to provide biometrics (fingerprints).

If you would rather avoid biometrics then you may wish to consider travelling to Portugal, then we could apply to Portuguese Embassy (if you live in the south of England and Channel Islands), which takes 1 week from a Tuesday, so a visa would be ready on the following Tuesday, ie after 8 days. From the date of appointment French visa takes 4 working days for most nationals: S. African, Indian, Chinese, Russian, Thai, Turkish etc. But it takes 2 weeks for the following nationals: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, Congo, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. 

  1. Passport and UK visa, valid for 3 months on return from Schengen area.
  2. Completed application form (attached)
  3. 2 recent passport photographs.
  4. If employed -  letter from UK employer and last 3 months pay slips
  5. If studying - letter from UK college.
  6. If self-employed, letter from an accountant or solicitor.
  7. Proof of travel.
  8. Proof of accommodation.
  9. Travel insurance, can be instantly purchased from the link on our website (on the left):   
  10. If you are married to a UK/EU citizen you only need: form, photos, passport, UK visa, spouse’s passport and a marriage certificate.
