Schengen Visa Portugal

All applicants will be required to provide biometrics at the Portuguese consulate in London from 20th of November 2015 as part of the visa process. Once the biometrics have been taken, your information will be stored in their system for the next 5 years.

For example, if an application was made at VFS Global for a Spanish visa after 20th November 2015, then the applicant will not to have give biometrics again when applying for a Portuguese visa at the consulate within the next 5 years. Please note the visa stamp must show 'VIS'.

If we handle your application, we will charge you an additional fee in return for providing advice on the requirements, taking responsibility for ensuring that your documentation is appropriate and lodging application on your behalf .

We arrange SCHENGEN VISAS for foreign residents in the UK who hold UK visas, such as Work, Working Holiday, Student, Spouse, Tier 1, Ancestral, permanent residency etc, but not for those who are visitors in the UK.

We work with South African, Indian, Russian, Thai and other foreign citizens and spouses of UK, Portuguese and EU citizens. We can represent Zimbabwean nationals but it would take 2 weeks from the date of submission.

We cannot apply for certain nationals, if your country is on this list you have to apply in person direct at the Embassy: Afghanistan, Algeria, Albania, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Burundi, Congo, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen.  

Your UK address must be in one of these counties: Greater London, Avon, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Channel Islands, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Milton Keynes, Norfolk, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire. If your county is not listed you have to apply in Manchester in person.

Cost: £250 including VAT and Embassy fee. If you are married to UK/EU national - only £200.  We pass official Embassy fees to the government and we charge our fees for our services if you choose to apply through us.
 

Visa validity: decided by the Embassy only (not by agencies), can be from 1 month to 6 months.
 

Documents required:

1) Passport and a UK visa, both valid for at least 3 months beyond your trip.

If your UK visa is in the old passport please provide both old and new passports (there is no need to transfer a stamp into a new passport).

2) 1 passport-size colour photograph.

3) Application form. Download here. Please fill in the paper form and scan it to us before sending the documents. We will fill in the online form and make an appointment on your behalf but you will need to make the payment first. Once that has been done then we will email you the completed form and you can bring/send it to us with the supporting documents. 

4) Confirmed tickets. Internet print-outs are accepted. If you are travelling to more than one Schengen country then Portugal must be your "longest stay".

5) Proof of accommodation:

* If staying at a hotel: hotel booking in Portugal. Internet print-outs are accepted.

* If staying with friends/family: Letter from the host; copy of the host's passport; copy of utility bill with the address in Portugal. All can be scanned & emailed.

* If renting a villa: Letter from the company confirming rent. Or letter from the villa's owner; copy of the host's passport and a copy of a utility bill with the address in Portugal. All can be scanned and emailed.

6) Travel insurance stating area and expenses covered. If insurance provided with your bank account - original letter confirming cover (letter dated no older than 3 months, on bank's headed paper). Family members of EU Nationals don't need to provide travel insurance.
 
7) Original Current account bank statements for the last 3 months, with your name and address; with £50 per day of stay on the balance.

* If last original statement is older than 1 month please send it plus a 'Temporary Statement' with up-to-date balance from the same account. This can be done instantly at your bank or internet banking. Family members of EU Nationals don't need to provide bank statements or travelers cheques.

8) If you have no bank statements or balance is not sufficient: original EURO travelers cheques €60 per day of stay (per person).

9) For employed: Original letter from Employer, dated no older than 1 month, on headed paper. Must confirm you are employed by that company, your job title.

10) Original payslips for the last 3 months: if you are getting paid weekly then provide payslips for all the weeks in the last 3 months.

11) If you are not working and supported by a spouse: spouse's employment letter (as p.9), spouse's bank statement (as p.7); original spouse's passport and original marriage certificate. If not in English it must be translated.

12) For students: Letter from College/University confirming attendance. Letter must be: no older than 1 month; on headed paper; stating your course and dates of course and graduation.

13) For self-employed: Letter (no older than 1 month on headed paper) from accountant or solicitor confirming you are self-employed, business name and type of business.

14) For spouses of UK and EU citizens: spouse's original UK/Irish passport and original marriage certificate. If not in English/Portuguese must be officially translated.

Portuguese Embassy requires 'all documents' from this list from spouses of UK/EU citizens, ie including tickets, bank statements etc.

15) For spouses of Portuguese citizens. We can assist only if your marriage has been registered with Portuguese Consulate. Once registered, for a visa we would need spouse's original Portuguese passport, marriage certificate and Certidao/Assento de Casamento issued by the "Conservatoria" in Portugal or by Portuguese Consulate anywhere in the world.

16) If travelling on business/conference: Business Invitation stating your name, company name, purpose of the trip, dates and contacts of the inviting organisation. If the company is in Portugal - fax is acceptable. If the company is in the UK (such as a conference organiser) - original postal letter.

17) Payment by cash £280. If you are married to a UK/EU citizen - £250.
