Why French Schengen Visa Appointments Are Challenging

  • Public visa centres are often fully booked for weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions - French Schengen Visa

1. How quickly can I get a France Schengen Visa appointment?

At Multi Travel Visas, we specialise in French Schengen visas as we have exclusive appointment slots every Monday at our London office.

We process French visa applications through TLScontact, the official visa centre for France in the UK.

To secure your place, we must receive your full set of documents at least one week before your biometric appointment.

For example, if we receive your documents by Monday 10th, we can book you for the following Monday 17th (except on Bank Holidays).

Our goal is to make the process quick, reliable, and stress-free so you can travel with confidence.

2. Do I need to visit the visa centre for biometrics?

No — unlike the standard process, your biometric appointment takes place in our office, not at the visa centre. This makes the process faster, more comfortable, and less stressful for our clients.

3. I am the spouse of a British national. Do I still have to pay the French Embassy visa fee?

Yes. From 2020, the French Embassy requires all applicants, including spouses of British nationals, to pay the visa fee. We will explain the fees clearly before you apply, so there are no surprises.

4. I have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Settlement in the UK. Do I still need a Schengen visa?

Yes. Having ILR or Settlement in the UK does not exempt you from needing a Schengen visa. Unless you hold a passport from a Schengen-visa-exempt country, you must still apply. The good news is that our team will guide you step-by-step and make the process as smooth as possible.

5. I am entering France but spending more time in Belgium. Should I apply from France?

No. Schengen visa rules are based on your main destination, not your first entry point. If you are staying longer in Belgium than in France, you must apply through the Belgian visa centre. You should only apply from France if France is your country of longer stay or, if stays are equal, your country of first entry.

6. What documents are required for a France Schengen visa?

Once you contact us, we’ll send you a tailored checklist and an easy-to-fill questionnaire. Most documents can be emailed to us, but your passport and photographs must be delivered to our office at least one week before your biometric appointment. We check all documents carefully to minimise the risk of refusal.

7. How long does the French Schengen visa process take?

The French Embassy’s processing times vary, especially before summer and Christmas holidays. On average, it can take 1–3 weeks. This is why we recommend applying as early as possible.

8. Do you assist with urgent or emergency travel?

Yes. If you have urgent travel plans, let us know — we will do our best to find the fastest available slot and prepare your application quickly.

9. Ho do I get my passport back?

We can collect it for you from TLS, you can collect yourself from them or ask TLS to post it directly to your preferred address.
