1. What are the requirements for a UK Spouse visa in 2025?

To apply for a UK Spouse visa, your partner must be a British/Irish citizen or settled in the UK. You'll need a genuine relationship, minimum combined income of £29,000 (or savings £88,500), suitable accommodation, and meet the English language requirement.

If you already have a Spouse or Partner visa issued under the Rules before 11 April 2024, you can continue extension under the old £18,600 income threshold. The income threshold remains £18,600 for the partner (more if children are also applying) or savings of £62,500, or a permitted combination of income sources.

2. Can I apply for a UK Partner visa if my partner is on a work visa?

You have to apply in a different category, as a Dependant of a worker, such as Skilled Worker Dependant. There is no financial requirement like £29,000, instead it’s either a small amount of savings (about £285) or their Sponsor can certify Maintenance on the Certificate of Sponsorship (COS). There is no English language requirement for work Dependants until ILR it comes to ILR.

3. How long does a UK Spouse visa take to process in 2025?

UK Spouse visa processing typically takes 8-12 weeks for entry clearance from outside the UK, or up to 8 weeks if switching in-country. Priority services can reduce it to 5 working days.

4. How much is the Home Office fee for a Spouse Visa in 2025?

The Home Office fee for an in-country UK Spouse Visa application is £1,321.

The Home Office fee for an out-of country UK Spouse Visa application is £1,938.

You will also be required to pay Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) on top of Home Office application fee.
